In a quiet attic of a humble house, a sparrow built a cozy nest. The sparrow loved its abode and the attic even more, where it could freely come and go through the open window, singing songs of joy and wisdom. The children of the house spent their evenings watching the sparrow flutter around the ceiling and bring cute little things to its nest.

As time passed, the children grew up and had their own families. They no longer visited the attic as much. They started working hard, building the family wealth. Thinking the house started looking outdated, they renovated the old home, adding luxurious furnishings and modern amenities. One day, they decided to install a colorful glass pane on the attic window to enhance beauty and keep the cold out and the warmth in.

Unbeknownst to them, this change trapped the sparrow inside. It could no longer fly out to gather food or sing its songs to the world. The once lively attic grew silent, and the sparrow felt imprisoned, its heart growing heavy with sorrow.

Days turned into weeks, and the family noticed the silence. They missed the cheerful chirping that had once filled their home.

One evening, the old housemaid in the family walked up the wooden stairs. Sitting by the attic window, she saw the sparrow’s plight.

She gently opened the window, allowing the sparrow to fly out once more. As the sparrow soared into the sky, the old housemaid had a deep realization: “The same doors that shield us from the cold can also block the warmth of life; the same doors that keep the pain away can also close off love and beauty.

In their pursuit of wealth and comfort, the family had unintentionally closed the door to the simple joys and wisdom that the sparrow brought.

From that day on, the family kept the attic window slightly ajar, welcoming the sparrow’s songs and the fresh breeze of wisdom.

This story of the sparrow teaches us that while wealth is important, it should never come at the cost of closing oneself off from the simple, beautiful things in life. True prosperity in life lies in the balance of comfort and wisdom.
